If you're going to get the windows tinted in your car, you want the tint to last as long as possible. One way to do that is to leave the installation to the professionals. Another way is to follow the right steps for window tint care. If you've had problems with window tint in the past, you might not have followed the right steps. Read the list below. These tips will help you extend the life of your new window tinting.  

Don't Wash Your Windows Right Away

If you want to get your windows tinted, make sure you wash your car first. You won't be able to wash your car for several days after you get the windows tinted. Washing your car too soon can interfere with the adhesion. If your window tint gets wet before it can cure all the way, it can come loose. If that happens, you'll need to apply new window tinting. The best way to avoid that problem is to let the window tint cure for a few days before you wash your car.  

Avoid Using Abrasive Cleaning Tools

If you want to extend the life of your new window tinting, now's the time to get the right cleaning tools. You want to avoid using abrasive cleansers and scrubbers on your car windows. Abrasives and scrubbers can destroy your window tinting. Instead, you want to use mild detergent and a soft cloth on your windows. 

Watch for the Formation of Bubbles

If you're getting window tinting installed in your car, you want to watch for bubbles. It's not uncommon for bubbles to appear as your window tinting ages. But, you do need to watch for bubbles in new window tinting. If you leave the bubbles, the tint film can separate from the windows. If you see bubbles, use the edge of a debit card to smooth them out. Press the debit card on the film and push the bubble toward the edge of the window. This will remove the bubbles. 

Don't Let the Window Tint Air Dry

If you want to protect your tint film, be sure to keep your windows dry. Excess water can undermine the strength and durability of your window tint. That's why you should remove excess moisture right away. The best way to do that is to dry your windows with a soft cloth as soon as they get wet. This will remove the excess water. It will also keep the windows lint-free.
