Don't Do These Things In Your Brand New Vehicle

If you have just bought a new car or truck, then you will, of course, want to make sure you do everything possible to make sure you keep that new vehicle running great for as long as you possibly can and reduce your need for car or truck repair services. The way you treat your new car or truck can make all the difference in the way that car treats you in the future. Here are some of the things you want to make sure you do not do to your brand new car:

Don't step on the gas too hard

When your car or truck is at a stop, you don't want to make the same mistake a lot of people do in their new cars and step hard on the gas. Instead, you want to ease your foot on the gas to pick up speed gradually. Stepping on the gas to force the vehicle to gain speed too quickly is very hard on the engine and can cause damage, especially in a brand new car. It can cause unnecessary wear on the piston rings as well as being hard on other parts of the motor.

Don't make use of the cruise control option in a brand-new vehicle

It's fine to use your cruise control option in a used car, but it should be avoided in that new car or truck. When you are driving a brand-new vehicle, you want to break in the motor and part of this will include getting it used to many variations in the RPMs. When you set it to cruise control and drive this way, you aren't giving it the benefit of those varied RPMS.

Try to drive the car for longer distances at first

The way you treat your car or truck in those first few thousand miles or so is extremely important, and you don't want the car to be driven when the motor is cold. When you take short trips, it can leave you driving the vehicle cold more than you should. It's also important to run the car for a bit before taking off to warm the motor.

Keep plenty of gas in the tank

Make sure you refill the gas in that brand-new car or truck before you allow it to get below a quarter of a tank. When you let the car get close to empty with regards to the gas, it can harm your vehicle because the gas can act like a type of coolant for certain parts of the motor, like the fuel pump motor, and driving with low gas can create more heat than what those parts of the motor should be enduring.
